Best Wellies for Men

07 Feb 2023 |

With winter fast approaching, you need to have some appropriate footwear, especially when you live in the countryside. Whilst you might not think you need to invest in a pair of wellies, how many pairs of shoes have you got so muddy beyond saving? Probably quite a few if you don’t have a pair of wellies!

You won’t have to worry about ruining a pair of wellies because they’re the easiest footwear to clean. A decent pair of wellies should last you years too so need to replace them every autumn.

If you need to replace your current pair or want a brand new pair, keep reading for our favourite styles as well as why you need a pair!

Why you need a pair of wellies

Nobody wants wet feet, whether it’s summer or autumn, which is why we’ve rounded up some of our favourite reasons as to why you need a pair of wellies!

Easy to clean

Most shoes and boots are tricky to clean: you have to be aware of various materials, embellishments and colours. With a pair of wellies, a quick wipe down with some warm soapy water and they’ll be clean again.

If you can, clean them after every wear because grime starts to build up over time, making them harder to clean. Pay extra attention to the sole; gravel and mud has a habit of sticking in the grooves so if necessary, use a toothbrush to get any dirt out.

Long-lasting

Many people find wellies uncomfortable but think about how often you really wear them. Most of us only wear them when in the garden or on muddy dog walks.

Unless you work outdoors, your wellies should last you years. Provided you keep them dry and clean, as well as stored out of contact with direct sunlight, you should be able to wear them for a long time.

The British weather

Need we say more? The UK’s weather is unpredictable at best so getting yourself a pair of wellies is for year-long wear. Whilst you’ll predominately wear them during the winter, we all know that autumn and spring tend to have rain regularly and often the summer does too!

The beauty of having a pair of wellies on your feet is that they’re designed for rubbish weather to keep your feet cosy and dry!

Men's Neoprene Lined Boots

Best wellies for men

Now we know exactly why we need a pair of wellies, let’s take a closer look at the main two styles of men’s wellington boots.

Classic wellington boots

For those who wear their wellies less regularly or only wear them for walking the dogs, a pair of classic wellies should be enough for you. Our design comes in both navy and olive, two classic country colours, so you know they’ll match most outfits.

They’ve been designed to keep you warm during winter and cool during the summer so they’re the perfect pair for every month of the year.

This design has a thick rubber tread and sole and polyester lining making them super practical for daily use. They have a glossy exterior to make them even easier to wipe clean. The traditional buckle at the top of the boot means you can tighten the boot to your calf or have them a little looser. We love to pair our wellies with thick boot socks during the colder months to keep your feet extra toasty!

Men's Neoprene Lined Wellies

Once you wear a pair of wellies for daily countryside walks, you won’t want to wear any other type of footwear for them ever again!

Neoprene lined wellington boots

For those who work outdoors predominantly, you might decide to opt for a pair of neoprene lined wellies instead. These have been designed to keep your feet even warmer than a classic pair of wellies, due to the neoprene lining.

Our two designs, the Lisset and Gransmoor styles, are very similar but with slight differences. The Lisset wellies have a standard tread whereas the Gransmoor wellies have a much deeper and thicker sole.

To add some extra style, there is a faux leather trim at the top of the boot, the traditional buckle around the calf and an oil-resistant exterior for those who work outdoors.

Whilst the neoprene lining makes these wellies long-lasting, it doesn’t take away from the comfort of them either. Our styles have been designed with cushioned inner soles, ideal for those of you who work outdoors and are on your feet all day long.

What to wear with wellies

Whilst wellies are probably the most important part of your outfit to keep your feet dry, you might need a couple of other waterproof items to keep the rest of your body dry.

Men's Classic Wellies

A waterproof jacket

The other main waterproof item for any country gentleman has to own is a waterproof jacket or coat. Depending on how heavy the rain is, you might be able to get away with a pack and go jacket or if it’s a heavy downpour, a full fleece lined jacket could be a must!

Key features to look out for are a hood that can be packed away, lots of pockets, stormproof cuffs and a windproof bottom of the jacket. Go for a bold colour for winter to stand out on night-time dog walks or choose a darker, neutral shade for your typical countryside coat.

Waterproof trousers

If you’re outdoors for the majority of your day and you can’t work indoors, a pair of waterproof trousers could be a real game changer for you. Our new design comes in three colours so you could grab them in all three if needed!

They have an elasticated waist with a drawstring cord for a more fitted and secure feel. The polyester fabric is waterproof and lightweight, making them ideal for outdoor activities. If there’s a lot of mud about, stick these on over your regular trousers and you’ll thank us later when you get home!

Whilst our range of men’s wellies is small, it’s been tried, tested and updated throughout the years. We’re passionate about producing classic, quality pieces that will be in your wardrobes for years to come. Countryside fashion tends to stay similar year on year so make the most of it by investing in items that will last.
