Please do not use the YTC Ltd Sites or purchase any products over the telephone with our customer services team unless you agree with this policy.
For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, the data controller is YTC Ltd.
What is the purpose of this privacy statement?
Under EU-GDPR data protection legislation, YTC Ltd is required to explain to you why we collect information about you, how we intend to use that information and whether we will share your information with anyone else.
This statement applies to customers, users of our website and those who wish to receive marketing information from us. Please read this statement carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.
This statement tells you how personal information which we collect from you, or which you provide to us, will be processed by us.
This statement relates to information collected from you through your use of our website www.rydale.com and any other website on which this policy is posted or expressly referenced (“YTC Ltd Sites”). It also relates to information which we collect from you in our stores, over the telephone or if you contact us in writing.
Please do not use the YTC Ltd Sites or purchase any products over the telephone with our customer services team unless you agree with this policy.
This statement does not form part of any contract to provide services. We may update this statement at any time.
It is important that you inform us of any changes to your personal information which we hold so that the information which we hold is accurate and current.

YTC Ltd is a data controller. This means that we are responsible for deciding how we hold and use personal information about you.
Our data protection officer
We are not legally required to adopt a Data Protection Officer.

Why are we collecting your information?
The information that you provide to us is required in order for us to;
- Fulfil your orders for products with us;
- Provide you with offers and marketing information about products in which you may be interested;
- For our monitoring of the use of the YTC Ltd Sites by users;
- For profiling purposes so we can better tailor the YTC Ltd Sites' content to users' browsing behaviour;
- For the purpose of keeping our stores secure; and
- To conduct customer surveys in relation to our products and services
Types of personal information we use
We are collecting information about you in order to achieve the purposes set out above (see 'Why are we collecting your information?'). This includes;

- Payment information (such as payment methods, billing address details and other information related to payment. Please note YTC Ltd do not retain or store credit card, debit card or other confidential payment information);

- Details of your visits to YTC Ltd Sites and any calls that you make to us (such as location data, weblogs, other communication data and resources that you access);

- Browser information and online identifiers (such as your browser types, browser version host operating system, browser language and your IP address);
- Information about your visit to any YTC Ltd Site (such as full Uniform Resource Locators (URL), clicks to, through and from our site, products viewed or searched for, page response times, download errors, lengths of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks and mouse overs) and methods used to browse away from the page);
- Aggregated information (such aggregate traffic information collected from your visit to any YTC Ltd Site);
- Marketing, competitions and survey information
- Competition entries;
- Your responses to our surveys;
- Details of any agreement or objection to receiving marketing information from us; and
- In store security
- Images of you captured through the use of in store CCTV cameras.
Privacy of children and special categories of personal data
We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18.
We do not knowingly obtain or store any Special Categories of Personal Data, such as information about health or medical conditions, race or religious beliefs.
If we are made aware that we have received information from anyone under the age of 18 or Special Categories of Personal Data, we will use reasonable efforts to locate and remove that information from our records.
Source of your personal information
The information which we collect about you will be obtained through a variety of sources which include;
- Information provided by you
- If you register to use the YTC Ltd Sites
- If you are placing an order online at a YTC Ltd Site, in store or over the telephone with our customer service team. We will never ask you to confirm or supply any account or credit card details via email or text message. If you receive such an email or text message, please do not respond.
- If you enter a competition or promotion sponsored by us
- When you report a problem with our site and/or your order
- When you contact our support or customer service teams
- When you complete surveys that we use for research purposes
- Information collected automatically about you
- Information automatically collected about you and your visit to any of the YTC Ltd Sites
- Recording of your telephone calls with our customer service team
- CCTV footage when you visit one of our stores
- Information collected from third parties
We may collect information about you from third parties where we carry out identity verification credit or anti-fraud checks against your name using third party databases.
We may collect information about you from third parties who we have partnered with to run competitions.
What we do with your information
We deem that we have legal basis to use your personal data for the following purposes=
- Marketing purposes
We may use your personal data, and permit third parties on our behalf to use your personal data, to provide you with information that you have requested from us and to inform you of offers or other goods or services that may be of interest to you (but only where you have not objected to be contacted for such purposes).
We will only contact you by electronic means (email) or post with information about goods and services similar to those which were the subject of a previous sale to you. We will do this where you have made an order with us or you have otherwise confirmed that you agree to us sending you such information (see 'What is our lawful basis for using your information' below).
Where we permit selected third parties to use your data, we (or they) will contact you by electronic means or post. Details of those third parties can be found at 'Sharing your information'.
Please note that you have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. We will usually inform you before collecting your data if we intend to use your data for such purposes or if we intend to disclose your information to any third party for such purposes. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing by:
Checking certain boxes on the forms we use to collect your data; or
You can also request us not to use your personal data for this purpose when setting up your YTC Ltd account; or

- Placing an order
We use your personal data to process and fulfil your orders effectively and to carry out any further obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us. This will include using your email address and/or mobile phone number so that we can send you information confirming your order.
If you report a problem with your order, we may use your personal data to investigate that problem.
- Use of the YTC Ltd Site
When you use the YTC Ltd sites we may use your personal data to:
Register you to use the YTC Ltd Sites (if you choose to do so);
Administer the YTC Ltd Sites and for internal operations such as to help diagnose problems with our server, trouble shoot, analyse data and other administrative purposes;
improve the YTC Ltd Sites and to ensure that content is presented in the most effective manner for you and your computer, tablet or mobile phone (this may include providing you with content and services in your country's local language and currency);
Allow you to participate in interactive features of our service when you choose to do so;
Keep the YTC Ltd Sites safe and secure;
improve the services we offer, make recommendations about goods or services that may be of interest to you and to develop marketing programs; and
If you report a problem with the YTC Ltd Sites, use your personal data to investigate and resolve the reported problem.
- Profiling
We use information collected from the YTC Ltd Sites to profile the sites' users. In particular, we use information about you relating to your history of browsing the YTC Ltd Sites (collected through cookies) in order to categorise users into specific profiles which are then used to determine which product types you may be most interest in purchasing. That information is then used to prioritise certain products and promotions on the YTC Ltd Sites in which you are most likely to be interested in to receive the greatest prominence. - Entering competitions or promotions
We will use your personal data in relation to your entry into a competition run by YTC Ltd. We may also use your personal data in relation to a promotion sponsored by us. - Customer service, surveys and training
We may use your personal data in order to handle any issue which you raise with our support or customer service team.
If you complete a survey for us, such as a customer satisfaction survey, we will review and analyse your answers to the survey questions.
We may also use your personal data in order to train our members of staff or for monitoring purposes.
We may also use your personal data to notify you about changes to our service.
- Prevention of fraud and security
We may use your personal data to help to protect you from fraud. For instance, we may carry out identity verification, credit or anti-fraud checks against your name using third party databases which may involve disclosure of your personal details to registered credit reference or fraud prevention agencies who may retain and use your personal information.
Where you enter one of our stores, your image may be recorded by our CCTV cameras. CCTV footage may be used in order to ensure the security and safety of our staff and customers and could potentially be used as evidence in an investigation or civil or criminal legal proceedings.
What may happen if you do not provide your personal information?
Placing an order
Many of the services that we offer are only made available if we have certain information about you. To access these services, you will, from time to time, be asked to submit personal data about yourself. If you do not provide that personal data, we will not be able to offer those services to you. For example, if you do not provide information about your method of payment or delivery address, we will not be able to complete your order with us.
Use of the YTC Ltd Sites
If you do not agree for us to your personal information when you access the YTC Ltd Site, you should not use the YTC Ltd Sites.
Complying with data protection law

What is our lawful basis for using your information?

The lawful bases on which we rely in order to use the information which we collect about you for the purposes set out in this statement will be:
- Contract: Using your information will be necessary for us to either perform the contract between us or in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into the contract;
- Legal compliance: Using your information will be necessary for us to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation which is placed on YTC Ltd;
- Legitimate interest: Using your information will be necessary for our legitimate commercial interest and our interest is not outweighed by the potential impact on your privacy. For example, we rely on legitimate interest as our lawful basis to send you marketing information by email or by post if you have placed an order with us and you have not objected to receiving such marketing information. Sharing your information
We may share some of your personal data with third parties as described below.
Sharing your information within the YTC Ltd group
We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006.
We will share your personal information with other entities in our group as part of our regular reporting activities on company performance, in the context of a business reorganisation or group restructuring exercise, for processing orders, for system maintenance support and hosting of data.
Sharing your information with third parties
We may also share your personal information with third parties, such as:
To our nominated third party carriers to enable them to deliver your order and to contact you if there is a problem with delivery (i.e. telephone, name and address only);
To our nominated marketing agencies who provide marketing services on our behalf;
To our nominated order management company who provide a platform for processing online orders;
To registered credit reference or fraud prevention agencies who may retain and use your personal information; or
To third party companies who are co-hosting a competition and you have consented to that transfer.
Some carriers may deliver parcels to neighbours for customer convenience.
Security of your data
We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal information to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal information on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.
We will never ask you to confirm or supply any account or credit card details via email or text message. If you receive such an email or text message, please do not respond and notify us immediately at dataprotection@yorkshiretrading.com
All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. Any payment transactions will be encrypted using SSL technology. When you proceed to make your purchase and your browser connects to the secure section of a YTC Ltd Site your browser window frame will show a padlock icon to indicate that you are entering a secure area.
If you are using a computer or other device to access the YTC Ltd Sites in a public location we recommend that you always log out and close the website browser down when you complete an online session for your security.
Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.
Third parties security measures
Third parties will only process your personal information on our instructions and where they have agreed to treat the information confidentially and to keep it secure.
All our third-party service providers, data processors and other entities in the group are required to take appropriate security measures to protect your personal information in line with our policies. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes. We only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.
Transferring information outside the EU
The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area ('EEA'). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. Such staff may be engaged in, amongst other things, the fulfilment of your order, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy statement.
We will transfer the personal information we collect about you to the following countries outside the EU in order to perform our contract with you:
USA, Australia
There is an adequacy decision by the European Commission in respect of those countries listed above with an asterix (*). This means that those countries are deemed to provide an adequate level of protection for your personal information.
For the remaining countries which do not have an adequacy decision from the European Commission, we have put in place the following appropriate measures to ensure that your personal information is treated by those third parties in a way that is consistent with and which respects the EU and UK laws on data protection:
- The third party organisations based in the US are each subject to the US/EU Privacy Shield. This means that both organisations are part of a scheme which is designed to protect your personal information. As a result, we are not required to obtain specific authorisation to transfer your information to the US.
- Standard data protection clauses in the form of template transfer clauses adopted by the European Commission.

Can we use your information for any other purpose?
We typically will only use your personal information for the purposes for which we collect it. In limited circumstances we may use your information for a purpose other than those set out in this policy. If we intend to do so, we will provide you with information relating to that other purpose before using it for the new purpose.
We may use your personal information without your knowledge or consent where such use is required or permitted by law.

If you follow a link to any such website, please note that your use of such website will be subject to the terms of that website’s privacy policy and we do not accept responsibility or liability for your use of such website. Storing your information and deleting it
