What better way to spend an afternoon with loved ones and a selection of delicious sandwiches, snacks and sweet treats? With so many restaurants, cafes, hotels and eateries offering an afternoon tea selection, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Some even do themed teas, such as Disney or Harry Potter, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for those for you and the kids!
When it comes to dressing appropriately for an afternoon tea, country ladies know exactly what to wear. Something classy and put-together should be the first thought that comes to mind but bear in mind some places have a more casual dress code than others do!
We’ve rounded up a few of our staples of dressing for afternoon tea, no matter what the season or weather outside!
Tweed poncho – If it’s a little chilly, a tweed poncho will look oh so stylish and classy. With a luxurious fur collar, you’ll look just the part. Try to match the colour of the thread in the tweed to the rest of your outfit for a thought-out look.
Tweed skirt – A tweed skirt makes a great alternative for including tweed in your outfit. Our collection of tweed skirts fit just above the knee. Pair them with tights during winter months and bare legs in the summer.
They’re incredibly versatile too as they work well with a number of top half items. Wear with a patterned shirt, a cable-knit jumper or both when it’s cold outside or choose a plain-coloured polo shirt for more casual meetings.
Patterned shirt – Whether it’s checked, spotty or bird print, a patterned shirt is a must for any country lady. Dress them down with jeans and canvas trainers or dress them up with a tweed skirt or smart trousers.
Wear them underneath a jumper or cardigan is the temperature drops too much!
Summer dresses – Have you thought about wearing your summer dresses in the winter? Add a cardigan on top and some thick tights underneath and you’ve got a ready-made winter outfit.
Our collection of dresses is designed to be worn for numerous occasions and for all seasons so get experimenting with different outfits, accessories and occasions!
