Festival Raincoats

A festival raincoat is a non-negotiable in the UK, due to our unexpected rainy days throughout the summer. Even if it’s bright sunshine, there’s still a chance of some drizzle. Whilst you should always triple-check the weather before going to a festival, it can still be a good idea to pack a waterproof raincoat as a just-in-case item. We always say it’s better to be prepared than caught out!

If you’re off to a music festival where the weather looks good, a foldaway jacket in a packet is the best option. Whether you go for a neutral shade or a bright pop of colour, it’s easy to store in most handbags or rucksacks. Most at Rydale HQ keep one in their cars, just in case of a spontaneous summertime downpour when they’re out and about!

For country festivals in the spring or autumn, you might want more of a substantial jacket. A more casual option is a puffer or an insulated style of jacket. These are best worn over a casual outfit but they’re very lightweight to wear. They’re showerproof, rather than fully waterproof, so we wouldn’t recommend wearing them during heavy rainstorms. However, for a jacket to throw on over most outfits, it’s a great style to have on hand. Buy in a bright colour to stand out!

If you’re looking for a quintessential country festival raincoat, a wax jacket is something every country gentleman and lady should have in their wardrobe. They instantly make any outfit look more put-together and formal. Provided you use a protectant spray or cream on them regularly, they will remain waterproof for quite some time.
